A Journey to South Africa’s HIV controversy.

By Janine Roberts, 2006-05-25

I went to South Africa to work on a film about the diamond industry, hip hop and bling,
in February 2006, but on the way found myself in an emotional and highly
charged AIDS debate.

My first surprise came when I told a Professor, Patrick Bond of KwaZulu-Natal
University in Durban, that I was coming and wanted to meet him.
He had contacted me some years ago, enthusiastic about my work for human
rights in the diamond mining industry. He is an influential political
economist, the Director of the Centre for Civil Society in Durban, with academic
positions also in Canada and South Korea.

Patrick immediately replied by email… the rest as on the home webpage…
